SOGHIN 2010:

3rd scientific conference and annual general meeting
(Abuja 2010)

LOC CHAIRMAN’S WELCOME ADDRESS

Dear Colleagues,

We welcome you to the Abuja, the Center of Unity, and seat of Nigeria Government for the 3rd SOGHIN conference. This association formed by the merger in September 2007 of two truly dynamic associations, the West African Society of Gastroenterology (WASOG) and the Association for the Study of the Liver in Nigeria (ASLIN) had her first conference in Kano in 2008 and the 2nd in Benin City last year. The fact that this association has waxed stronger and is continuing in the tradition of organizing these landmark meetings in the face of global economic recession is a remarkable achievement.

This years conference brings together Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, Parasitologists, General Surgeons, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Histopathologists, Pediatricians, Pharmacist, Nurses, Medical Laboratory Scientists and other highly specialized medical professionals from within and outside Nigeria to deliberate on topical issues in gastroenterology.

The theme of the conference, Upper Gastrointestinal Malignancies, is especially relevant in today’s world with increasing prevalence of cancer worldwide. The development of budding professionals is not left out with the inclusion of a pre conference workshop focusing on Upper and Lower Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. The workshop will be coordinated by one of the major manufacturer of Endoscopes worldwide Karl Storz

Please make it a date with SOGHIN in Abuja come June 1st to 5th, 2010.

Come and enjoy the hospitality of Abuja, our hands are opened to receive you.
